Take advantage of the cheapest train tickets to get to the airport
The Algarve has been a favourite holiday destination with British holidaymakers for many years now and it is easy to see why with the miles of sandy beaches and warm, sunny weather that can be enjoyed there. The town of Portimao is home to many great seafood restaurants that are supplied by the boats selling their daily catch at the nearby docks. One problem that people have when flying overseas is how to get to the airport as if you drive by car the parking costs can be horrendous.
Travelling by train is a much cheaper option, especially now that regional operators have their own websites where passengers can make online bookings. The lower prices for fares on these sites make them among the cheapest train tickets you can buy. The train services in Portugal are a little more erratic so it can be a better idea to hire a car for a fortnight if you are planning on doing some exploring. A small vehicle with air conditioning is relatively inexpensive, especially if the cost is shared among four people, although driving on the other side of the road may take some getting used to. If you go by train then once you are in central London it is easy to take the underground to Heathrow where there are planes leaving for cities all over the world at regular intervals. There are also express services to Gatwick and Stansted airports making it one of the most convenient modes of transport.
